A binary code represents text, computer processor instructions, or any other data using a two-symbol system. The two-symbol system used is often "0" and "1" from the binary number system. The binary code assigns a pattern of binary digits, also known as bits, to each character, instruction, etc. For example, a binary string of eight bits can represent any of 256 possible values and can, therefore, represent a wide variety of different items.

द्वयाधारी कूट या बाइनरी कोड वह कूट है जिसमें दो संप्रतीक वाले वर्णों का उपयोग किया जाता है। द्वयाधारी संख्या पद्धति अनेक द्वायाधारी कूटों में से एक है। कूटों की सहायता से किसी शब्द या संगणक आदेश को केवल दो ही संकेतों के माध्यम से निरूपित करने की सुविधा मिलती है। उदाहरणार्थ ८ बाइनरी अंकों के मेल से २५६ प्रतीकों को निरुपित किया जा सकता है। संगणन और संचार के क्षेत्र में द्विआधारी कूट का उपयोग अनेक तरह से आकड़ों, को लिखने के लिये किया जाता है।
